Prayer Focus – “Love God’s Law”
Love is in the air today. What we love, we love to think about and it is on everyones mind.
Psalm 119:97 – “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.”
The theme in this verse is very clear. The psalmist is declaring his love for the law of God. He said it is the one thing that he thinks about all day long.
The word translated “law” could be translated doctrine. God’s law teaches us about His nature and His love for us. The law of God gives us guidance and direction concerning our lives. It converts our soul and it makes us wise.
Psalm 19:7 – “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”
People will be making declarations of their love to others today. Maybe you bought someone some flowers or candy or a nice card. Did you write a special message in the card declaring your love for that special someone?
God declared His love for us by sending His only begotten son. He continues to declare His love to us through His Holy Scriptures. It is God’s love letter to us.
I encourage you to take some time today to read and meditate upon the verses found in Psalm 119:97-104.
The Law will make you wise and it will give you understanding. The Law will teach you and keep you from every evil way.
God has given us His word because He wants us to know him intimately. He wants what is best for us, just like we want the best for those we love.
The psalmist continues on in this passage and says, “How sweet are Your words to my taste. Sweeter than honey to my mouth!” We enjoy giving sweets to those we love. God has some sweets for you today. It is His Word!! It tastes better than the most expensive piece of candy! it is like honey to our souls!
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. (Mark 12:30)
Our greatest love and affection should be towards our Heavenly Father who loved us first. He sent Jesus to die for us. We were worth dying for!
John 15:13-14 – “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.”
