The Word of God
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
A Solemn Charge
2 Timothy 4:1-2
“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.
Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”
- One day you will stand before the living God to give an account of your life.
- Take your life seriously, take the Word of God seriously.
- Be ready at all times
- Convince, Rebuke, Exhort – with the Word of God
- Be Patient and Teach
From the Truth to Fables
2 Timothy 4:3-4
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth and be turned aside to fables.”
- They will find teachers who will tell them what they want to hear, not what they need to hear.
- They will turn away from God’s truth to embrace what feels good.
Be Watchful in All Things
2 Timothy 4:5
“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
- Be Watchful
- Endure Afflictions
- Do the Work of an Evangelist
- Fulfill Your Ministry
Shelter in Place
I hear the Spirit of the Lord say to the church you are my beloved. I am with you always. Draw close to me and I will keep you from the snare of the enemy.
(Over the last few months, I have heard the phrase “shelter in place” several times on the news.)
I hear the Lord say to the church that we are sheltered safely in him.
Psalm 61:2-4
“From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings.”
I hear the Lord say that He is our true shelter and He is our safe place. Shelter in Him!
“Shelter-in-place” means to take immediate shelter where you are—at home, work, school, or in between. It may also mean “seal the room;” (CDC)
How to Shelter in Place
Psalm 91:1-2
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
How to Shelter in Place
The Hebrew word “Shelter” means “A place to hide from you enemies”
The Hebrew word “Refuge” means, “A place to run to for safety.”
The Hebrew word “Fortress” means “The one who keeps me”
The Lord is my Protector
Psalm 91:1
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
- Dwells = H3427 – To sit down, to remain, to inhabit
- Rest = H3885 – to stop, to stay permanently, to remain, to dwell, to abide
- The Psalmist found in God a hiding place…a safe place… a resting place…from the trials…troubles…temptations… & terror of this world.
John 15:7
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
